Vitra

Welcome to Vitra! For over fifty years, Vitra has produced furniture for the office, for the home and for public spaces. Rather than restricting the functional intention of a product to one of these three specific areas, Vitra's approach is based on the concept of transversality. Our aim is to provide versatile products that are intelligently designed, aesthetically pleasing, functionally reliable and durable. To achieve this, Vitra has always worked with some of the world's best designers, whose products reflect their personal experience and world view: Charles & Ray Eames, George Nelson, Verner Panton, Antonio Citterio, Alberto Meda, Maarten Van Severen, Jasper Morrison, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Hella Jongerius and others.

Near Basel, just off the German border, in Weil am Rhein, the production of Vitra’s furniture and products is to be found on the Vitra Campus. Alongside the daily business of manufacturing, the premises also give the opportunity to gain perspective and depth in all of its creative activities. An ensemble of exceptional architecture, the Vitra Design Museum, workshops, publications, collections and archives are all integral elements of the Vitra Project.

The most recent VitraHaus, built by Herzog & de Meuron, is the home of the Vitra Home Collection. As the company’s flagship store the VitraHaus invites you to explore, define and refine their sense of design. In the Lounge Chair Atelier, you‘ll experience the craftsmanship that goes into the final assembly of the Lounge Chair by Charles & Ray Eames. In the Vitra Design Museum shop, you‘ll find a host of accessories and products to take home with you and in the Vitra Café you can treat yourself to a wide range of fresh regional specialities.

Welcome to the VitraHaus, open Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
